We’re in Barnes & Noble again. Well, maybe “again” is the wrong word. Maybe it’s more like “still.” Yeah, we cheated. This was recorded around the same time as the last.

At http://techchicktips.net/ I found the content to be useful. I listened to podcast 0089 TCT- There is no Title in which they discussed various forms of webtools (“There is no Title” is the actual title). The most helpful one to my future will be Pete’s Power Point Station at http://www.pppst.com. I think I will use this site as a first year teacher to get amodel powerpoint for some of my discussions such as American government or civil rights. This site offers a variety of curriculum areas in which to gain a basic powerpoint. For fist year teachers this may be incredibly helpful in the fact that you don’t have to start from scratch from all slides and may begin polishing rather than structuring. They also discuss Timer Tab which is an adjustable clock that displays in the tabs; this way you can be looking at another tab but know where your timer is at by just looking at the tab rather than clicking on it. This is useful for educators because it will save them time from having to navigate back and forth. The link for that is here.

[...] 0088 TCT – It All Adds Up Episode Link: http://techchicktips.net/2011/08/23/0088-tct-it-all-adds-up/ Website link: http://techchicktips.net/ The tech chicks offer a variety of podcasts that describe articles, blogs, and resources. If you are looking for a specific link and web tool but don’t know how or where to find it, I would certainly recommend going into their website and exploring the many resources they offer. Their website not only describes different links, but it also critiques them and it is easy for the the teacher to get a opinion and see if they want to use it or not, they are very professional in their critique. I also loved that they talked about articles on education, which I love because you can use them to learn more and also as research. I heard a podcast which was titles “It all adds up”. The first thing that caught my attention was an article titled “Eight Shifts for Teaching and Learning” which was bringing up the question that caught my attention the most… “Are we empowering students to choose their teachers and what their sources of learning? or are we telling kids that education is something given not something you create?” This question really stands out, I through out my school years thought that education was something I couldn’t have a voice over and it was mandated period. I couldn’t create my learning environment because it was already created for me. But now that I am a future educator I consider that students have voices and they should be able to make, along with their teachers, their learning experience the best. Now by reading this we as teacher need to make sure we are stepping up our game and not being over confident that what we are doing is the best and allowing kids to have a voice. I think most of all we need to erase the mentality of having lessons “Easy to hand and expect them to accept it, and not create them”. Hey most important aspect of your teaching is your student, why not make a your teaching to match their needs and wants… Here are the links that were included in this podcast…. [...]

[...] Well first I liked this podcast because the links on their website that they were discussing all had to do with numbers. I like this because it just goes to show that you can use numbers in everything you can do! I like podcasts because you receive more information than if you just saw the visual aspects. From listening to their podcast, I was able to hear why they chose the links that they did for that particular post. [...]
