Wow... I didn't think "real" people fell for this stuff. And yeah, it only takes a few to make the zillions of emails sent worth the effort. Those jerks. If only they used their power for good...

Sad thing is...some people do believe this kind of thing. A few years ago I actually had to convince a colleague that she had not just inherited a bunch of money from a long lost relative. And it took convincing! Maybe now that it's so much more prevalent, people don't get hoodwinked as much. I would hope!

Wow. You are lucky. I got an email from the IRS that they reviewed my taxes and I overpaid! I felt so privileged to have the IRS doing my taxes for me, even before I got to it myself. But you have really reached a new level when the FBI is watching out for you. ;)

Too bad that YES there are LOADS of people that fall prey to this and to the medical enhancements too. And at school most of this is filtered, else we might could include this kind of spam in a lesson on bias, misrepresentation, and more. Of course I'm not sure i'd want to bring it up with my middle schoolers. Too titillating. Tsk, tsk. But on the other hand, this might would make an awesome parent workshop. Gmail does a pretty good job nabbing the spam and sending it right into a spam file for review. Thank goodness.

Check out Doug Johnson's recent vent n this too: http://doug-johnson.squarespace.com/blue-skunk-blog/2008/4/2/creative-spam-headers.html
